#SchoolEnrollment

How will you select the right school for your children?

Some choose a school based on proximity to their residence, others select a school where their children’s friends attend, and still others decide based on tradition.

While these all seem to be legitimate reasons, they overlook the fundamental element for selection of a school — the student success rate. In other words, how well does the school measure up in teaching?

Community of Faith is a private Christian school with a moderate tuition schedule, a 38 year history of academic excellence as evidenced by consistently posted student SAT scores 1.5 to 3 grade levels above the national norm, and students who are well grounded and equipped to address life’s challenges with wisdom and confidence?

Storms of life produce perseverance

Storms of life produce perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Now in our 39th year, we have completed a 38-year history of promoting academic excellence as evidenced by consistently posted student SAT scores 1.5 to 3 grade levels above the national norm by students who are well-grounded and equipped to address life’s challenges with wisdom and confidence.

How to find the right school for your child — "The Enrollment"

This is part 3, where we talk about “The Enrollment” process. If you missed the first two posts in the series, you can read part 1 “The Search” to learn what criteria parents typically use for their search and part 2 “The Tour” to learn what questions to ask during a campus tour.

One of the most important questions that a family can ask, relative to private school enrollment, is HOW MUCH? But, unless the answer is qualified by what you are paying for it’s really meaningless.

Let me give you a couple examples.

  1. Let’s say that you go to a local automobile agency and see a great looking SUV. You like the make, it’s a current year model, the body style, and color is exactly what you’ve been looking for, so you ask How Much? The dealer says “this little beauty is only $4,000.00 as is”. Now, a $4,000 price tag for a current year auto should send up a RED FLAG and the “as is” should be a deal breaker. What the dealer didn’t tell you is the vehicle doesn’t have an engine or transmission, and the wheels and all interior components are extra.

  2. Schools often receive phone inquiries wanting to find out how much the tuition is. They fail to ask what their child would be receiving in return for their investment.

The enrollment process depends upon an open exchange of information. This is most easily accomplished in a scheduled face-to-face meeting. If the parent is unaware of the basis for cost, there is no sense of value. When an open exchange takes place during a scheduled meeting, the enrollment fees and process can be fully explained for mutual benefit.

Private school enrollment is an investment in your child’s future. Reasonable expectations are most frequently based on the history of academic achievement by current or former students of the school. When students historically post SAT scores 1.5 to 3 grade levels above the national norm, there is cause for reasonable expectation of a solid return on your investment.

We give thanks for the families that make up Community of Faith Christian School (CFCS). These are parents and even grandparents committed to the scriptural principle which instructs us to:

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 KJV

CFCS has been educating youth of the El Paso region for over 38 years and our students have consistently demonstrated academic excellence as evidenced by a history of student posted SAT scores 1.5 to 3 grade levels above the national norm.
